Rocky's Babies

Rocky has become very specific when it comes to the names of her babies. The first name she said, Oaklee was stolen from her buddy, McCoy's baby sister. The second was Baby Jesus and the third, Horton came from the Dr. Seuss movie we borrowed from the library. I tried to get her saying them on video but she gets pretty camera shy. My favorite is when she says..."I'm not ready."

So Much to Do So Little Time

We run a tight ship around here. Because of attending various playgroups and keeping up with the chores there is very little leisure time around this house. Rocky and Daisy are very selective with their hobbies.

Rocky of course, always a Daddy's girl tries to catch up on some reading so they will have some important comic-related conversation when he comes home from school. Usually the Eugene library keeps our comic supply ample enough that there are enough for both of them.

Daisy gets in a quick work-out. The last time we visited the doctor she told us to make sure that Daisy had enough time on the floor so that she could build her muscles. She must have taken it to heart because she is suddenly very into yoga. I mean, after all, she is a born native of Eugene.

She especially likes to hold herself in a plank because it works her core, abs, and glutes.

She then usually moves into the Baby Cobra.

This pose is one she made up herself...she calls it the rolling Beluga.

After all that working out she catches a few z's whenever she can.

They like to play, Who Wears it Best? It's the same hat but somehow it makes Rocky look like a flapper and Daisy look like a fortune teller.

Sometimes they go cruising around town to check out the hotspots on a joyride.

Whatever is going on at this house, one thing is guaranteed. It isn't ever boring.

A Craving for Nature

I started to get a claustrophobic feeling this past week and I sensed that I had been neglecting the opportunity to be one with nature. It sounds trite, but even spending a few hours in an Oregon forest seems to cleanse the soul.

The weather was beautiful and we even saw some amazingly cute river otters. The hiking we had planned turned into more of a nature walk which was fine because we found all kinds of things to keep us entertained along the way.

Time Machine

It is amazing how my blog magically goes back in time to showcase cute pictures from the past. I'll be catching up on the summer for awhile.

Daisy is such a little snuggler. She loves to be bundled up in blankets, even when it is hot.

I pulled this hat out of my first try bag. It seem that whenever I make something for the first time it always has some sort of problem. I've come to expect the inevitable and usually use the funny colors when I have a new pattern. Like any good mom, I make hats for all my friends' kids and my baby goes bareheaded. I wasn't going to give this as a gift so I guess I'll stick it on my child. This hat has several mistakes in it, but you can't tell because she makes it look pretty darn good. Besides, Kelly Green is always in style in Eugene.

This friendly smile looks a little suspicious considering the look on Daisy's face.

The Stake 5K with Oma and Opa was a highlight of the summer. Although the mile walk turned out to be less than a half mile and the 5K was full of hills, it was a great way to spend a Saturday morning. The four of them placed really well in the "old people pushing babies" category.

Bedtime

No matter how crazy our day goes my girls always seem to work their way back into good graces at night.
For example, when I saw this...

I forgot about the screaming in the grocery store.
And when I saw this...

the dried applesauce that was spewed all over my shirt didn't seem quite as frustrating.

Something about this adorable moment wiped the 600 "NO!"s off my radar.

When I was in college I took a technical sales class which taught me two things. The first one was that I have absolutely no interest in working in any form of sales. The second thing was to always end with your best pitch because the last thing you say is usually the only thing that gets remembered.
If I'm only going to remember one thing from my day, by all means, let it be this.

P.S. We had to say goodbye to our sweet friend Anu this week. She is headed back to India to get married. She and her future hubby are from the same home town but had to come all the way to the U.S. to find each other.

We had always planned that I would go to India for her wedding but it doesn't look like it is going to work out. It is okay though because she's got 900 other guests to take care of. She told me that her spiritual leader took the birthdates of the bride and groom and compared them with the star charts in order to plan an auspicious time for the ceremony. Although the wedding begins at 5 A.M. the actual marriage will be at 11:50 P.M. which is way past my bedtime so it is probably for the best that I can't be there. She promised that she will send pictures of the 6 Saris that she has already picked out for the various ceremonies.
I have loved my friend and will miss her a lot.
