Why we Love the Oregon Coast

January

January has been a rainy and depressing time like always.   Somehow we managed to survive mostly unscathed.   For Ike it was a life  changing month  because he now can sit up, eat solids,  and army crawl.   This also means that my life has gotten even more crazy.

Yes, that laundry pile the same height as Rosy.

I have been trying to get back out on the running trails.  I have finally lost enough of the baby weight that I can squeeze  back into my pants.  This day we  were just about ready to head out the door but when I put the pants on Rosy refused to go with me.   She doesn't like the pants.   Her exact quote, "Mom, those pants are NOT cool."

It was a pretty epic battle between the two of us.  I was afraid for a while that she was going to win and that either I would have to change my wardrobe or just give up on the run altogether.  In the end I bribed her with an old  candy cane that  I found in the back of the cupboard and it was a win-win.  The only drawback was that there may have been actual people outside that saw me wearing those uncool running clothes.  Hopefully they survived.

Bonus Story:
The other day while driving the kids to school we were listening to NPR.  They were talking about race issues and mentioned something about white people.  Daisy said, "Mom, are they SERIOUS?  There are white people?"

Rigby Family Photos

Debbie took photos of many of all the family members that could make it to Addie's blessing.  If you don't know the Rigbys then you probably don't have any idea what an accomplishment it is to get them to actually let someone take a picture.

 I love them all.

Christmas Morning

We repeated the new tradition of all cramming into the big bed and watching A Christmas Story until the breakfast casserole is finished cooking.  It might be my favorite part of the year.   All the anticipation of the kids for their gifts mixes with the warm smells coming from the kitchen.

This year we are planning on taking a trip to Disneyland so there were not many gifts.  We still had a great time.

Christmas Adam - For Posterity

This year's homemade gifts were incredible.  I didn't get photos of everything.
Jilly made map prints of  our home towns.  She also gave Ike a "GBC" book  where the letters are performed by Ghostbusters.
Matt and Kristin made a vintage clock made out of the most classic of classic games.
Hand painted  cards  from  Ethan Joanna and Ginny.
My new favorite bag printed with the handwritten first page of The Grapes of Wrath.
The kids got marble mazes made by their cousins.
I made snack trays that are being taken over by dinosaurs and comic book outlet covers.

Not pictured: Lego head tubs made out of Red Vine containers, and a different purse for each of the little girls.
Needless to say, it was epic.

All Things Christmas

I hardly took any pictures during Christmas.  Luckily Matt and Jill did and the graciously shared with me.

 Clearly it was super fun.
